If I Were a Printer (Revised for 2021)

Now is the time to focus on growth and success in 2021! Following are some casual but essential thoughts and ideas to help you achieve both.

1. Marketing will play an increasingly important role in sales effectiveness. Many traditional marketing efforts are becoming part of the sales process.

2. At least 80% of the sales process is completed before a potential customer contacts you. It's all about your brand, and you are what your website content says you are. How does your site compare to the 3-5 others in a prospect's memory?

3. Having an active social media presence is now expected. Ignoring it entirely or lack of consistent updates puts your brand at a disadvantage.

4. A compelling LinkedIn profile and participation should be a requirement for all sales and sales support staff and management. The customer wants and expects this.

5. Marketing today is more about giving than asking. Direct response marketing campaigns and cold calling are both too dependent on timing and luck. There are more effective alternatives!

6. Generate mindshare, position your brand, and foster relationships by providing customers with helpful information related to your services. Use multiple channels, too.

7. Be the agent of change. Disrupt, be visible, and helpful. Commit to trying something different in 2021, which will also have an uplifting impact on your salespeople.

8. All growth begins with retention, which should be your first point of focus. A client retention campaign can be as simple as an informative quarterly company newsletter.

9. The cost of doing nothing is higher than any new marketing or sales initiatives you undertake. What do you have to lose?

10. Start with a 90-day plan and commit to execution. Get outside help if needed. Our programs are easy and a fraction of what it costs to produce in-house.
